Chamber Singers

FAQ's

What is PDHS Chamber Singers?

The Palm Desert High School Chamber Singers is a select group of student singers, chosen by audition. The Chamber Singers are the primary choral touring group and have toured to China, Italy, New York City, and Australia where they have performed in such venues as St. Marks Basilica in Venice, Carnegie Hall in New York, and here in the Coachella Valley at the McCallum Theatre with the Desert Symphony. The Chamber Singers perform music in a variety of choral styles spanning centuries of choral music. The emphasis is on unaccompanied, a cappella singing. They perform throughout Southern California at various choral festivals, and for many community events in the Coachella Valley.

Fundraising

Fundraising is crucial to allow us to continue to grow the Vocal Music Program in size and quality. Travel to festivals, competitions, and more would not be possible without the fundraising efforts of ALL students and their parents that are involved in vocal music at PDHS.

Do I have to earn hours?

Seventy (70) hours (35 per Semester) of fundraising or community service will be required of each Chamber Singer, to help fund the Vocal Music Program, music, and travel expenses to concert tours and regional festivals. Hours are accumulated through the following activities:

*Fundraising events (performances, fundraising, community services, etc.): earn 1 hour for each hour you are at event.

*Parents attend monthly Booster meetings: earn 1 hour per parent/guardian per meeting.

*Donate item for Silent Auction.

*Wash towels from car wash.

*Other fundraising activities, as determined (recycling, ink cartridge collection, etc.).
