FAQ's

What is PDHS Ensemble?

PDHS Ensemble is an auditioned choir for emerging singers who gain some singing and choral music experience. The emphasis is on proper vocal production, introduction to part singing, sight singing, and music theory. Ensemble travels to various choral festivals in Southern California and perform concerts on the same program as the Chamber Singers. Ensemble is the foundation of the PDHS Vocal Music Department, developing and honing their musical skills and abilities, while gaining musical sensitivity and appreciation.

Fundraising

Fundraising is crucial to allow us to continue to grow the Vocal Music Program in size and quality. Travel to festivals, competitions, and more would not be possible without the fundraising efforts of ALL students and their parents that are involved in vocal music at PDHS.

Do I have to earn hours?

Thirty (30) hours (15 per Semester) of fundraising or community service will be required of each Ensemble student, to help fund the Vocal Music Program, music, and travel expenses to concert tours and regional festivals. Hours are accumulated through the following activities:

*Fundraising events (performances, fundraising, community services, etc.): earn 1 hour for each hour you are at event.

*Parents attend monthly Booster meetings: earn 1 hour per parent/guardian per meeting.

*Donate item for Silent Auction.

*Wash towels from car wash.

*Other fundraising activities, as determined (recycling, ink cartridge collection, etc.).
